Memorial Day 2014

Holidays

It doesn’t take a hero to order men into battle. It takes a hero to be one of those men who goes into battle.~ NORMAN SCHWARZKOPF, U.S. Army general

Memorial Day is a special time for Americans to reflect on the contributions of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for us. Because of the courage of these Veterans, we enjoy the opportunities and freedoms that we do today.

Memorial Day, an American holiday observed on the last Monday of May, honors men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Source: History, Memorial Day
