Add A Dose of Dedication To Your Love

Marriage Monday

We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort. ~Jesse Owens

Actor Denzel Washington and wife Pauletta are on the cover of this month’s Ebony Magazine celebrating 30 years of marriage.  Also, many rumors are flying about an impending divorce.  I don’t bring this up to spread gossip, but only to introduce today’s topic.  “Dedication” as it relates to marriage.  You see 30 years is nothing to sneeze at.  For all the people waiting in the wings for the next big Hollywood breakup story, I say have several seats. As a person that understands how much work and sacrifice it requires to make a marriage work I render a silent prayer for the couple and offer best wishes.

Dedication Is the Meat of Commitment

“When it comes to commitment in the context of marriage, oftentimes what people mean is making the commitment to settle down with one person and getting married. The universal notion of commitment in marriage usually involves devotion to one person, remaining faithful to each other, sticking it out for the long haul and sharing their lives together. But when two people say, 'I do,' commitment should go far beyond that. In addition to saying we're committed to our spouses, we should also show it in the form of dedication.”- Kevin Farell, Houston Christian Relationship | Read More here

Love Doesn’t Leave When The Going Gets Tough

Commitment keeps couples together and is a cornerstone of marriage. We wouldn’t think of leaving our children as a solution to our problems with them.  The same goes for a marriage you don’t’ just run when the going gets tough. Understand that commitment is a choice, and therefore can be redeemed at any time in a marriage.

Love Is Simple, So Simply Love

Marriage is an endless journey that is meant to be enjoyed.  May we all learn to simply love and stop adding layers of complications.  If you are in a relationship and your status is “It’s Complicated” I say it is time for you both to get back to basics. Love isn’t the blame; as frail humans we add the complications, but remember love is simple.
