Bearing The Stress of Life Together

Marriage

Love and happiness are both important to have in your life. And not only is love an important part of happiness, it can be a key stress reliever as well. Today, I am reminded of one of the sweetest compliments I ever received from my husband.  He said to me, "you make life easy".  To hear these words warmed my heart, and was evidence that I was being the "help meet" mentioned in the book of Genesis.

To have someone to share life's ups and downs is one of the greatest rewards of marriage.  Once you realize you are on the same team, and other person is not the enemy it is easier to weather the storms of life.

All Stress Isn't Bad

So-called "good stress," or what psychologists refer to as "eustress," is the type of stress we feel when we feel excited. Our pulse quickens, our hormones change, but there is no threat or fear. There are many triggers for this good stress, and it keeps us feeling alive and excited about life. In marriage we must find more opportunities to incorporate "eustress" as a balance to the "distress".  Read More about "How To Get More Good Stress In Your Life".

Key Acknowledgments & Talking Points

When stress strikes here are few key acknowledgments and talking points that have always worked in my marriage.

Acknowledge Your Partner’s Presence – Try This! “You are here with me during the good and bad times, for that I am grateful.”

Acknowledge That You Are On The Same Team – Try This! “This sucks, but I am so happy I don’t have to go through it alone”.  Or “Sharing this moment with you makes it more special”.

Acknowledge That Stress Is Only Temporary – Try This! “I am so glad trouble don’t last always”, or “I can’t wait to make another awesome memory with you”.

Stresses of life good and bad will always be amongst us.  We must find ways to manage the stress, and not allow it ruin our relationships. Always remember that love conquers all with proper application.
