Fruit of the Spirit - Makes A Marriage Sweeter

Marriage

Models Convey The Message of a Culture

I was watching a recent episode of Tyra Bank's America's Next Top Model.  In the episode the contestants are paired up and photographed in a mock-wedding photo shoot.  The mock wedding were not the conventional man/woman marriage the weddings ran the gamut from polygamy, shotgun weddings, same-sex weddings, and so much more.

Did you see the episode?

This episode of ANTM reminded me of a piece I covered here on the Marriage Segment of the blog a while ago. The title was "The Making of Marriage", the piece explored the different types of marriage.  We live in a nation that is open to many gods. Therefore, your culture is going to reflect numerous definitions of marriage.  I respect the creativity that went to into conveying the message.

Just as models convey the message of a culture, as believers in Christ we must convey our culture and the God we serve.

A Sweet Life

Life together is much sweeter when we embrace God's plan for our lives and our marriage. Today I wanted to take the former discussion we had in "The Making of a Marriage" one step further and discuss marriage as it relates to the fruit of the spirit.  A marriage that bears the fruit of the Holy Spirit is one of greatest testaments of our relationship with Christ.

A Biblical Marriage | A Fruitful Marriage -  A Study on The Fruit of the Spirit

"As Christians, all of us have the Holy Spirit of Christ living in us and His power available to us. If we are fully surrendered to Him, there should be evidence of it, and one of the most obvious signs is the presence of the fruit of the Spirit."

Fruit of the Spirit: The First Steps to an Enduring Marriage with Deborah J. Thompson, Crosswalk.com Contributor

"I challenge every couple interested in attaining a deeper relationship with one another to take just these two passages, Galatians 5:22-23, and 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, and mediate upon them. Decide as a couple to "digest these fruits," to embrace these ideals and ask God to shine his light of wisdom and insight upon you both as you delve deeper into the meanings behind these enduring truths.
