Walking With Wisdom

Walking The Illuminated Path

"Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm."~ Proverbs 13:20

Choose your friends and inner circle with caution. The company you keep influences the knowledge you gain. If you talk and debate with wise people, you will learn by listening and understanding and being part of the conversation, whereas, if you are surrounded by fools, you won't learn anything because they have little or no knowledge to offer.

How to spot a fool?

Dan Rockwell of Leadership Freak blog offers us some telltale signs of spotting a foolish person.

Fools:

  • Believe they are right.
  • Hate accountability and practical strategies.
  • Love blaming and reject responsibility.
  • Pursue personal ease rather than challenge.
  • Expect you to adapt to them.
  • Reject instruction.
  • Can’t see their foolishness.
  • Express frustrations quickly and openly.
  • Gossip and cut down privately while complimenting publicly.
  • Act confidently.
  • Enjoy talking.
  • Despise listening.
  • Don’t seek help, but the wise love and seek wisdom. Fools seek their own way because others are wrong and they are right.Gaining wisdom is an exercise in life learning, careful analysis, and thoughtful action. Showing respect and reverence for God and shunning evil is the beginning of wisdom. As we walk in a spirit of humility are more apt to seek righteous counsel in all of our actions.

Wisdom Cheat Sheet

Simply put, the wisdom of God elevates God.  The wisdom of the world elevates man.

As believers we should measure all of our choices according to God’s word and walk by faith in every way.
