Marriage
Vicki Larson, Co-Author of the book “The New I Do” recently wrote an open letter to
blogger Anthony
D'Ambrosio via Huffington
Post.
D’Ambrosio in his piece outlines 5 Reasons Why We Can’t Handle
Marriage Anymore. D’Ambrosio has a right to his perspective, but shouldn’t
speak for the entire marriage covenant. I addressed the topic before in the
article “Don't
Let Divorce Ruin The Marriage Covenant For Future Generations”.
I respect Larson for offering a different perspective, and shifting the responsibility back towards the individuals in a relationship.
The Great Debate (Marriage)
As we head into the 2016 elections we will see more and more debates about marriage. We must take a rational approach when deciding on policies that will govern our lives for generations to follow.

Marriage is an institution that has existed in most societies
around the world for an incredibly long time, and will continue to be a part of
our society. It would be presumptuous of
me to tell you how you should feel about marriage. We are one nation under God,
but we don’t all share the same definition of God. Can we possibly all share
the same definition of marriage?
At the end of the day all we all have distinct perspectives,
but should respect the right of others to their perspective. Standup for what
you believe, and keep moving forward. Let us hold fast to underlying principles
that transcends partisanship.
Thank you for reading Illuminated Living.
