Equal Pay Day
“When Women Are Not Paid Fairly, Not Only Do They Suffer, But So Do Their Families”
Each year, the National Committee on Pay Equity (NCPE)
organizes the national observance of Equal Pay Day to raise awareness about
unfair pay in America. In 2015, Equal Pay Day will be observed on Tuesday,
April 14. Tuesday is symbolic of the point into the new week that a woman must
work in order to earn the wages paid to a man in the previous week. In other
words, because women on average earn less, they must work longer for the same
pay (and they never catch up!) Source:

The Ask4More campaign
is encouraging women to speak up for equal wages.
Women make up nearly half of our nation's workforce. Yet from
factory floors to boardrooms, their talent and hard work are not reflected in
their paycheck. Today, women on average are paid only 78 cents for every dollar
a man earns. For women of color, that pay gap is even wider. Source: US
