Green Living
Earth Day is an annual celebration that honors the
achievements of the environmental movement and raises awareness of the need to
protect Earth’s natural resources for future generations. It is celebrated on
April 22 in the United States and on either April 22 or the day of the spring
equinox throughout the rest of the world. The first Earth Day took place on
April 22, 1970, organized by EARTHDAY.ORG’s founders. Since then, Earth Day has
evolved into the largest civic event on Earth, activating billions of people
across 192 countries to safeguard our planet and fight for a brighter future.
This year, Earth Day 2024 focuses on the theme “Planet vs.
Plastics”. EARTHDAY.ORG is committed to
ending plastics for the sake of human and planetary health, demanding a 60%
reduction in the production of ALL plastics by 2040.
