Green Living
Earth Conservation
|
We should consider every day to be Earth Day, seek to live
in such a way that honors instead of destroys.
Why isn’t earth conservation a common cause shared by all of humanity? Why
are so many people denying scientific evidence? What are the barriers that divide us on this
seemingly common interest? Can we find a way to move forward and limit the
negative impact? I don’t have the answers, but I care enough to start us on the
path resolution.
Climate change doesn’t stop to give us time to come to a
general consensus. Therefore, we must actively
seek to gain a better understanding daily, and make better choices where and
when we can. Green Living
is not about a particular movement, it is a discussion on stewardship and
learning ways to conserve the earth.
Green Living is segment serving as a forum for discussing ideas, and
highlighting leaders in the movement for positive change.

I haven’t
read the book yet, but have added it to my reading list.
What We Think About
When We Try Not To Think About Global Warming, by Norwegian psychologist
Per Espen Stoknes
According to the Fast
Company article: The book walks through each of the psychological reasons
we don’t naturally want to dwell on the problem of climate change–and why some
well-intentioned messages about climate have actually pushed people away. Then
it explains how those messages can be reframed.
5 Ways To
Actually Convince People to Act On Climate Change
- Make It Feel Personal, Urgent, and Local
- Be Positive
- Give People a Way To Take Visible Consistent Action
- Reduce Polarization
- Use The Power of Social Networks
Another interesting article written by Dr. Scott Rodin for The
Steward’s Journal explorers the mental conditioning that shapes a person’s
beliefs regarding climate change and global warming.
“Praise be to God that we no longer
have to choose between loving our country and caring for creation, between
being good Christians and committed conservationists.” Excerpt
Focus on our common interest, remaining positive, and acting
on knowledge are sure ways we can move forward. What we do today is our lasting
legacy.
