Recognizing your Gift is the Gift that Keeps on Giving
A drawing from my daughter for my birthday |
Today I celebrate my birthday. I am so grateful to be here and alive and
feeling a sense of purpose. See when you
recognize your life’s purpose it’s like being born again. To really grasp the essence of your existence
is a wonderful gift.
I spent the last few days reflecting on my journey
thus far, and one thing I can say for sure is that the good times in my life
outweighed the bad. Not that I didn’t
have many dark days, but I always held strong to my faith. No matter my
circumstances I have always been the type of person to look for the ray of
light.
I found an old journal I kept from over 25 years
ago, and I wrote an entry about longing for the light at the end of the
tunnel. At such a young age I had no idea
the trials I was experiencing were preparation for soul’s purpose. I recently
read Jon Gordon’s 4 Stages of Purpose that helped me recognize that my younger
years were preparation for my purpose. God
masterfully moves us through our purpose.
I shared an awesome bible study with my family
recently, and we spoke about the Parable of the Talents in the bible. God has given all us talents, but we must
recognize the gifts and put them to use for God’s glory. It took me a while to
realize that counseling and inspiring others to look on the bright
side was indeed a talent. I never saw it
as some unique ability until I did an in depth study on exhortation. It was then that I realized, “Oh, this is
gift”. Once I recognized the gift my
next mission was to find ways to be useful and not bury my talent like the man
in the parable.
One of the ways I use my gift is by sharing with
you. So, on my birthday I just want to
say THANK YOU for allowing me to
encourage you. I pray that the inspiration you find on my pages ignite a burning
desire in you to walk in the light of the Lord.
