Walking The Illuminated Path
Self-Control
No
temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is
faithful; he will not let you be tempted
beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide
a way out so that you can endure it. ~ 1 Corinthians 10:13 NIV
Walking the Illuminated Path requires self-control. You can’t do and say the things the way the
flesh wants to. You are called to a more
mindful existence. I understand that knowing it and doing it are not the same,
therefore always look for practical ways to bring God’s word to life.
“Getting control over your
urges and opportunities is like getting control over a bicycle or roller skates
or anything else. You’re not going to
start out as an expert. You will get
control of it only by forcing yourself at first to act differently or strange. The reason people correctly “feel” that they
don’t have self-control is because they haven’t been practicing what would give
it to them.” Excerpts from Smart Recovery.org
