Light Over Darkness
Patience Over Instant Gratification
Born out of generation that knows the value of hard work and
persistence a microwave generation has been created. Somehow along the way our
culture has shifted into thinking it is better to give than to earn. The advent
of new technology has been feeding the beast of instant gratification.
The millennial generation — born
during the 1980s and 1990s — grew up on technology and feels the pull of
instant gratification more intensely than older generations. Millennials find
it more difficult than previous generations to delay the gratification of even
important aspects of their lives. Excerpt from Bucknell University, Instant
Gratification & Its Dark Side
Questions to Ask Yourself In The Midst of Being Impatient
Are you prepared for what you are asking for?
Is it in your best interest?
Is the time right?
Will it kill you to wait?
Power In The Process
It is time we realize there is power in the process of life.
Often people are given too much too soon.
Learn to trust the process. When you try to rush things that need time
to grow you only shortchange yourself. Instead of feeding the artificial need
of instant gratification, learn the virtue of patience.
3 P’s of Being Patient
Be Positive – Keep a positive attitude while you wait
Be Present – There is always a lesson right where you are.
Be Persistent – Just because it’s not happening in an instant
doesn’t mean it won’t happen.
Remember, the greatest oaks where once little acorns. We all have
a starting point and must endure to reach our fullest potential. Fast and easy doesn’t always equate to better.
