Extending Grace and Love To Prickly People

Light Over Darkness

Godly Wisdom

Have you ever noticed that people that put up the toughest exterior are usually the most vulnerable on the inside?

Their speech may be a bit abrasive. If you get too close you may even hurt yourself. Think about it from their perspective. Just maybe life hasn't been all too kind.

Growing in barren lands, facing seemingly impossible conditions can make you a little rough around the edges. People adapt to survive in adverse conditions. Just like the cactus uses its spines to ward off predators human sometimes build walls of defense . We all have thorns in some way or another.

That is why God instructed us to extend grace and love to one another. The same grace God extends to us is the same grace we should extend to others. Yes, even the prickly ones. We all have purpose.

When encountering a prickly person consider their perspective. You may need to add extra light and tenderness to the situation. Often prickly people have been hurt and may have trust issues. Exhibit fruit of the spirit in spite of their shortcomings.
