A Heart for Service

Feel Good Friday

One of the biggest gripes coming from prior generations is that the current generation feels entitled. There has been countless studies on the “Entitlement Generation”, but having a sense of entitlement shouldn’t be reserved to one particular generation of people. The root of entitlement is selfishness and pride, something you find in anyone at any age. We can all combat the sense entitlement by shifting our hearts to service.

Service eases the burdens in our society. No one will force you to help others, but many of us are driven to serve. Some of us have spiritual longing to help other people. This is a heart for service.

The intangible benefits alone—such as pride, satisfaction, and accomplishment—are worthwhile reasons to serve. In addition, when we share our time and talents we:

  • Solve Problems
  • Strengthen Communities
  • Improve Lives
  • Connect to Others
  • Transform Our Own Lives

So, if you are looking for ways to change your condition both physically and spiritually start with service.

The Luminous Report is filled with inspiring story after story and examples of people living a life of service. Check out the current issue and be inspired.
