Light Over Darkness
Coping with feelings and realities of life.
We all get the blues sometimes. But some of us wallow in those negative emotions as a lifestyle. No good can come from wallowing in negative feelings. It is time to separate facts from feelings.

What I am feeling vs. what is real?
Feeling: Alone in your thoughts and feeling like no one understands and no one genuinely cares.
Reality: Truth of the matter is the feelings aren’t new and there are people going through the exact same path and may be feeling the same way. Also, there people that travelled the same road and got to the other side. Welcome the support of those that have come before you. Remember God cares for you, knows you intimately, and loves you. Draw near to God, and God will draw near to you (James 4:8).
Feeling: Unappreciated and dishonored.
Reality: (Colossians 3:23-24) Truth is man will never value are completely understand the sacrifices you are making. You are a living sacrifice. You are taking up your cross daily and following Jesus. Ask God to renew the right spirit in you and look to Christ as your example. Yes it hurts. No one promised easy, but we have been given a comforter.
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too." (2 Corinthians 1:3-5)
Feeling: Disrespected and Spitefully Used
Reality: The bible instructs us to respect one another (Romans 13:7), but in this fallen world we don’t always get it right. This is where grace enters the picture. We shouldn’t only treat others the way we want to be treated we should treat others the way God treats us. You can’t control the actions of others, but you are responsible for your actions. Beware of seeking vengeance, that honor belongs to God (Romans 12:19). Your job is to continue acting out of a spirit of love.
Final Thoughts
The above are just a few example negative feelings that may plague you at a point in life. The key is to quickly recognize counterfeit and replace it with truth. Do not give in to irrational thoughts and feelings resist them and they will flee from you.Biblical Meditation – James 4:7
You see, you are always feeling your thinking. You are not necessarily always feeling “the truth,” or even your own personal truth. Every emotion, feeling, or mood you experience follows directly from the thinking you are experiencing. In reality, your feelings are nothing more than feedback about your thinking.
