Combating Hunger
We have all heard the adage, “it’s a blessing to be a blessing”. That is exactly what communities all over the nation are doing to help combat food shortages in their communities. Blessing boxes are sprouting up across America. It is a new take on old fashioned food pantries, and a way to extend charity to those in need at micro level.NPR reports, “Similar "yard-based" food pantries have gone up across the country, in states like Oklahoma, Indiana, Kentucky, Florida and Minnesota. Much of it seems to trace back to Jessica McClard, who created what she calls the "little free pantry" in northwest Arkansas.”
